The Challenge of Labor in the Print Industry: Solved

AP Technologies recently hosted a panel to uncover industry leaders’ perspective on the state of the print industry in 2020—you can read about the panel members’ outlook here. One of the themes I noticed from their responses, and have heard myself in my daily conversations with printers, is the challenge of the changing labor force.

You may be experiencing it yourself: pressmen are retiring and new help (if you can find it) is inexperienced or even hard to find. As it relates to envelope production, the good news is this industry challenge can have little impact on your business with the iJetColor press for three key reasons.

ANYONE CAN RUN IT

Any staff member, from a press operator to the receptionist (even the owner 😉), can load stock and run the iJetColor press due to its simple configuration and easy-to-use interface. This gives you flexibility if you lose experienced staff or are running a leaner operation and need various staff members to fill in.

MULTITASK WITH WALKAWAY RELIABILITY

With a generation of pressman lined-up for retirement and the challenge of recruiting millennials and Gen Xers to the print industry, many shops may be running leaner operations with less experienced staff. So, for staff that need to multitask, the iJetColor press is a rugged workhorse that offers walkaway reliability so they can manage more production on the job.

DO EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE

For those retiring a press, not only do you gain simplicity and ease-of-use with the iJetColor, but you reduce your setup time while adding full-color, full-bleed, variable data capabilities. If you’re replacing an old toner device, you’re gaining ease-of-use too plus output speed, full-bleed capabilities, and profit.

The challenges the print industry face today are only challenges if we choose not to find ways to adapt, and they only get harder the longer we wait. The iJetColor press is a great solution for this particular challenge with the workforce.
