iJetColor Printing and the Environment

Beyond its speed and capabilities, the iJetColor Press is also a wise choice for the environment. And those environmental benefits also translate into considerable savings. As you'll see below, iJetColor printing requires just a fraction of the energy consumption of other digital printing devices.

Waterfall Printhead Technology®

As the most environmentally-friendly printhead on the market today, Memjet Waterfall Printhead Technology® has numerous features

Memjet Formula Inks

Memjet Formula Inks are classified as "aqueous," or water-based. That distinction means the inks do not emit the nano-particles found in laser printer toners or the noxious odors emitted by solvent- or UV-cured inks. The lack of emissions result is a safer work environment for print operators and employees.

Additionally, Memjet Formula Inks present significant energy savings because there is no need to heat toner - an ever-present need with laser printers. Since our inks are not energy-curable, they don't need to be dried with "vampire lamps" to "cure" inks. After one quick pass, printed materials emerge ready-to-ship.

Operational Efficiencies

Memjet printheads can be arranged for virtually any digital printing application, including documents, labels, and wide-format. This means short-run and long-run print jobs can deliver variable data on-demand anytime, virtually anywhere.

Instead of printing, shipping, and storing printed inventories, iJetColor printing allows companies to print materials at their own facilities. This results in significant reduction of delivery, transportation, and logistics costs, and leaves a smaller carbon footprint.

Global Environmental Standards

Memjet is an industry leader in the adoption and implementation of Global Harmonization System (GHS) and Classification and Labeling Process/Protocol (CLP) requirements.

Printhead Efficiency

Our revolutionary printhead requires no special disposal instructions or permits, and it typically contains only 0.5 milliliters of ink when removed from a printer. In fact, our printhead components easily unclip from the printhead, so they're very easy to recover for recycling.

Hazardous Substance Compliance

We also comply with all global standards regarding substances that could be harmful to the environment. Memjet adheres to Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Registration, Evaluation, Authorization (REACH) standards.

Halogen-Free and Recyclable

Memjet does not use any halogens or compounds containing halogens (such as chlorine or bromine). On top of this, many of the Memjet printhead component subassemblies are recyclable and carry appropriate ISO 11469 identification, as well as packaging industry recycling symbols where applicable. The recyclable Memjet printhead component subassembly examples are the printhead's plastic protective packaging, black chassis, shrouds, and paper guard.

All the reasons listed above are why we call iJetColor printing "green." The printing system is intelligently designed to bring increased efficiency to digital printing. And to us, that include environmental sustainability.
